We have doubled our heat soaking capacity!

Ravensby Glass have recently invested in their heat soaking facilities due to increasing market demand for this process. They have doubled their heat soaking capacity by purchasing a second Torgauer oven. Due to the regulated duration of the heat soaking process, there is a limit on capacity which can only be expanded with the introduction of an additional oven. The tempering process of glass increases the strength of glass around 5x. However, the tempering process can cause problems if the float glass used has microscopic inclusions within it. Ravensby Glass awarded BS EN 14449

Ravensby Glass have now been awarded BS EN 14449 certification for their laminated glass. Ravensby Glass recently installed a Pujol 100 50 X 28 Fast Curing laminating machine to enable them to create high performance heat strengthened laminated and toughened laminated glass. We use EVA interlayers which offer exceptional long-term weather resistance, excellent light transmission and high UV protection. We can also use PVB interlayers which offer reduced sound transmission and great UV protection. Sentry interlayers are also available which offer exceptional resistance towards breakage and vandalism. Recent investment in toughened laminate

Ravensby Glass have recently invested in a PUJOL 100 50×28 fast curing toughened laminate machine. This is a significant investment which will allow us to offer our customers quality toughened and heat strengthened laminated products on a quick turnaround. Toughened laminated offers safety, security and strength across many applications from commercial facades through to balustrades and stairways. Processed with either traditional PVB interlayer or weather resistant EVA interlayers the product will be available in a wide variety of thicknesses and configurations

Cullet recycling award from Saint Gobain

We have now recycled over 10,000 bags of glass cullet with Saint Gobain. This has prevented 8,265T of raw materials being removed from the ground and has saved 2,625T of CO2 going into the atmosphere. It has also saved 1,125,000Kw of energy, which is enough energy to power 62 houses for an entire year! To mark this huge achievement, Saint Gobain presented us with a trophy and certificate.

Ravensby Glass are going from strength to strength with four new staff appointments: Chelci Aitchison was appointed Logistics Co-Ordinator last Summer in what was a new position within the company driven by the extensive transport and logistical challenges from supplying commercial glass products throughout the UK. With having close on 10 years logistical experience out with the glass industry Chelci has brought many planning skills to the business and adapted them to what is a complex product to organise loading and delivery of. Solar PV Panel Installation at New Factory Site

Solar PV Panels now at Tom Johnston Road Site Ravensby Glass are delighted to announce the completion of the installation of Solar PV modules on the factory roof of the new premises situated on Tom Johnston Road. The installation was completed in two phases and involved 1200 panels being installed with a south facing aspect on both parts of the roof. The solar PV system has allowed Ravensby to reduce our carbon footprint by producing clean energy thus receive guaranteed returns thanks to the feed-in-tariffs specified under the UK Renewable Energy Law. Structural Glazing System/Toggle Units Ravensby Glass now supply a number of insulating unit bonded glass systems utilizing structural silicone that incorporate individualised toggle retention channels. We are approved to manufacture Toggle SG units from Kawneer, Schuco, and Metal Tech which all comply with the current British Standards. Structural glazing systems /Toggle units, can be used to construct visually impressive all glass façades. The systems offer the designer a wide and diverse range of profiles that will provide structural integrity, weather performance, thermal enhancement and are considered as an appropriate option for expansive high rise glazed applications. Success from SVQ Training Programmes

Glass Processing SVQ Success We are delighted to announce that 35 members of the Ravensby Glass factory staff completed their SVQ training programmes. The programme was run and founded by the Vocational College and allowed employees to gain an SVQ2 in Glass Processing. At Ravensby we believe that on-going training is essential as it leads to improving the effectiveness of the current workforce and ultimately improves productivity and adherence to quality standards.
